The Project

Art From Nature’s Resilience
Hurricane Helene left a trail of destruction in WNC, with tens of thousands of trees lost and significant damage to public lands and infrastructure. In response, we propose a project that both commemorates the loss and celebrates the region's resilience by turning tree remnants into artisan masterpieces (“Echoes”) placed in key locations across WNC. These “Echoes” can be a bench, arch, sculpture, etc. placed in spaces for people to reflect and refresh – now and in the future. The ultimate goal is to create a tree trail throughout WNC. A map will highlight key locations throughout the region and each tree will showcase the story of the artist and the tree history.
